Joshua Meyers | Keynote Speaker

Co-Founder of Emergent Order

Josh Meyers is the head of post-production and co-founder at Emergent Order. Founded in 2011, Emergent Order is an independent studio that develops and produces films and multi-platform content. Most recently, Josh was the lead editor on the feature documentary, The Pursuit. Edited in Final Cut Pro X over the course of 3 years, The Pursuit was featured at the Dallas and Cleveland film festivals and can now be streamed on Netflix.

Josh has worked in the film and broadcast industry for 20 years, cutting his teeth on network promos, music videos, and commercials at Nickelodeon, WWE, UFC, SpikeTV, and the Paramount Network. His first feature film, At the Fork, premiered at the 2016 Berlin International Film Festival where it was acquired by Samuel Goldwyn Films.

When he’s not responding to client notes, Josh likes to travel with his wife and son, and talk about pro wrestling to anyone who will listen. He’s based in Austin, TX.

Steven Moyer is an aspiring feature film editor currently working as a feature assistant editor in Los Angeles. He has been working exclusively in Final Cut X since 2013 and most recently AE’d on the soon to be released film The Banker, which was acquired and will be distributed by Apple. Steven is originally from San Diego and has spent the last decade moving from news, to ads, and finally features and is obsessed with all things workflow.

Jeff Greenberg

Jeff I. Greenberg has nearly two decades of experience as a Post-Production consultant and Master Instructor (trainer for other trainers) for Adobe, Apple, and Avid, specializing in the areas of editorial, workflow, compositing, sound, color grading and compression.

Jeff is the owner of JGreenberg Consulting and for a decade was the Principal Instructor for Future Media Concepts. Consistently voted as one of the top seminar speakers/interviewers, audience’s feedback includes depth of subjects covered, approachability and student-centered teaching that helps keep them up to date on industry standards. Jeff teaches seminars at events such as NAB, IBC, CES and Inter BEE. He’s the chair for the Editors Retreat, an annually held exclusive getaway for editors.

Jeff is a published author of several books on the subject of editing and post-production. He recently finished a book on Adobe Premiere Pro Studio Techniques (Adobe Press). Jeff writes for various blogs and creates training materials for Lynda.com and macProVideo.com. He’s happy to talk to you about consulting and helping you find solutions for your training needs.

Justine Ezarik is a one-woman digital phenomenon: techie, gamer, vlogger, and digital creator. She is one of the top female personalities online. Justine was named one of the Hollywood Reporters 50 most powerful digital players as well as one of Maxim Magazine’s Hot 100. In 2014, she was on Time’s Most 100 list and in 2012, she was ranked the #6 most influential personality by The Daily Beast’s Digital Power Index, amongst the rankings of Lady Gaga and YouTube co-founder Chad Hurley. Justine published her first book, I, Justine: An Analog Memoir, in June 2015 under Simon & Schuster and is a New York Times Best Seller.

Steve Martin

Steve Martin is the creative force behind Ripple Training and has been using and teaching Final Cut Pro since 1999. Since Final Cut Pro’s introduction, he has introduced thousands of people to Final Cut Pro through his classes, workshops and training products. He is the co-host of MacBreak Studio; a weekly web show focusing on Final Cut Pro post production and has consulted and/or trained for Apple, Disney, Hulu, Canon and other companies.

Chris Fenwick

Chris Fenwick has a 35 year history of creating broadcast television and corporate video projects that started years before even owning a computer. As a broadcaster and an early adopter of what we used to to call “desktop video,” Chris brings a unique perspective to what we now do everyday.

In 2007 Chris moved his personal edit suite into Slice Editorial in Oakland, CA where he spends his time catering to Fortune 100 companies. In late 2008 he was an early adopter of the Canon DSLRs being used in digital cinema and perfecting they’re use in his workflow. As a podcaster, he co-hosted digitalCINEMAcafe and hosted FCPX Grill. Chris has enjoyed sharing his thoughts and views on the world of digital cinem, post-production and FCPX.

Geoffrey Orthwein

Editor, Writer, Director

Geoffrey Orthwein is an independent filmmaker whose work has been shown in theaters, museums, and broadcast television. In 2017 he co-directed the feature film Bokeh, starring Maika Monroe and Matt O’Leary, which he edited in Final Cut Pro X. The film was sold to Screen Media Films, which distributed it in theaters and on iTunes, Amazon Prime, and Netflix, where it is available today.

Geoffrey started as an editor and colorist working on the film Ocean Odyssey, a multi-screen installation wrapping 270º around the Smithsonian Institution in Washington DC. He went on to do live production and commercial work for companies including Google, Salesforce, The Walt Disney Company, T-Mobile and Virgin. Today he continues to work in independent films, commercials and video games.

Nick Harauz

Apple Certified Trainer

Nick Harauz is a certified Apple video trainer in both Final Cut Pro X and Motion 5.

He has the uncanny ability to engage his students and create a level of relatedness that keeps them coming back for more. Since 2002, Nick has worked with domestic and international brands, offering a wide variety of video production and motion graphic services. He has worked with clients such as Proctor & Gamble, Diageo, Virgin Mobile, and Mastercard. He was editor of the feature documentary ‘My Father and the Man in Black’ that can be found on iTunes.

Nick’s training can be found online through Motion VFX, Lynda and LearnQuest. When he is not teaching, traveling, or creating video content, Nick can be found in a box fit class.

Iain Anderson

Apple Certified Trainer, Training Brisbane

Iain Anderson is a trainer and freelance editor based in Brisbane, Australia. Among other things, Iain is an Apple Certified Trainer in Final Cut Pro X, a lead trainer for macProVideo.com, a tutorial creator for coremelt.com, a videographer, an editor, an animator, a writer, a designer, and occasionally a coder of Apple Watch and iPad apps. In the past he’s created animations and live videos for Microsoft, virtual islands in Second Life for government, and screensavers for fun.

Lee Herbet

Cinematographer, Producer and Apple Certified Trainer, Capture.ink

Lee Herbet is a filmmaker and educator. Through his company, Capture.ink, he and his team have helped some of the biggest brands in the world tell their stories. He loves teaching and delivers workshops all over the world. He writes for a number of online photography and video sties on topics ranging from reviews to “how to” articles. He is also a certified Final Cut Pro Master Trainer.

Patrick Southern

Workflow Architect, Frame.io

Patrick has been editing for 12 years. His most recent work has won him an Emmy (2016) and provided countless hours of content for fellow editors to stay on the bleeding edge of the industry. He currently lives in Los Angeles with his wife Emilie and enjoys telling dad jokes in spare time when he’s not using it for hiking or visiting Disneyland.

Sam Mestman is the lead contributor for FCP.co, the CEO of We Make Movies, and the founder of LumaForge. He’s had all the jobs and done all the things… but more than anything… he’s a guy who likes making movies, telling stories, and making the film industry faster, better, and cheaper. Cirina Catania, Founder/Lead Creative at The Catania Group and partner, Lumberjack Systems, is a member of the PGA, WGA, and IATSE-Local 600, and the Producer/Host of OWC Radio. She has worked as a writer, director, supervising producer, cinematographer, post-producer, or marketing exec on over 135 film, television and new media projects for the big screen as well as for networks such as National Geographic, Discovery, etc. She is one of the co-founders and former director of the Sundance Film Festival and former Vice President of Worldwide Marketing at MGM-UA and United Artists.

Cirina is based in San Diego, D.C. and Berlin when she is not on the road filming in the Amazon or other exotic locations. She is very proud of the fact that she has not yet contracted malaria and that after all these years, she still loves her job!

Vincent Masciale

Vincent Masciale is a director, producer, and co-founder of Lone Suspect, a production company based in Los Angeles. He has directed two feature films, television pilots, a digital series and comedy sketches for Funny or Die, and spent 10 years as an editor for companies like TMZ, National Geographic, Discovery, Fox, VH1, and MTV. Masciale has directed and worked with some amazingly talented actors over the years; Jason Alexander, Patton Oswalt, Jane Lynch, Daniel Stern, Tony Hale, Jon Heder, and Gary Cole, to name a few. He’s currently in post-production on his latest comedic feature, Faith Based, starring Alexander, Margaret Cho, David Koechner, and Lance Reddick. Masciale’s first feature Fear, Inc, a horror-comedy starring Abigail Breslin, premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2016.

Michael Yanovich

Freelance Film & TV Editor

Michael Yanovich has been editing for longer than he cares to admit, everything from commercials and music videos to reality tv and documentaries.

Yanovich, an avowed Avid Media Composer editor since 1992, was convinced by Michael Matzdorff to try out Final Cut Pro X several years ago and discuss his experience on a panel of editors for an A.C.E. event.

Since then, he’s edited five feature films — the latest two on Final Cut Pro X. “The Dustwalker” — a $2,000,000 SciFi/Horror film with nearly 500 visual effects — has just been completed. And psychological thriller “Another Girl” — sequel to 2014’s “Ask Me Anything” — is currently in the final stages of post-production and should be completed by the end of the year.

In August of this year, he also wrote an article for No Film School, “Why I Switched to Final Cut Pro X After 25 Years of Working on Avid” — it is official, he is a Final Cut X convert.

Felipe Baez, 2019 Speaker, FCPX Creative Summit

Felipe has a background in IT and video production and post. Having worked at McKinsey & Company and at Accenture as a Creative Producer and Head of Post Production for Accenture Productions. His team was involved in over 2000 Live Broadcast events per year across an organization of 400.000+ employees. He led a team of Editors in 4 countries and created workflows that allowed his team to collaborate and handover projects every day, delivering over 400 videos a month.

Currently, he owns a small production and post company called Cre8ive Beast in Prague. He also works as Workflow Architect for Hedge, helping develop Postlab and he’s part of a few Youtube channels talking about production and post such as FCP.co and Get a Grip.

Michael Matzdorff

Editor | Writer | Director

Mike Matzdorff is currently editing animation in Hollywood. He’s also a dutiful Dad and aspiring voice over artist.

Mike entered the Final Cut Pro X community as the 1st Assistant editor on “Focus” – the first major film edited on Apple’s Final Cut X software and wrote a book on the experience loaded with real world tips, tricks, and proven workflow techniques. The book is listed on Apple’s Final Cut Pro X Resources page.

His other credits include: “Young Justice 3,” “Looney Tunes,” “Fight Club” and “Analyze This,” among others. He is an author, public speaker and post-production trailblazer and is currently knee-deep in his fourth screenplay entitled “June in New York” — an animated feature film.
